Professor Majid Ebrahimi Warkiani as a Keynote Speaker at ICBME 2026
Professor Majid Ebrahimi Warkiani, Professor and Director of the Center for Biomedical Innovations at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), will join ICBME 2026 as a keynote speaker and present on “Microfluidic Systems for Cell Biology and Translation into Practice.”
We are honored to announce that Professor Majid Ebrahimi Warkiani, Professor and Director of the Center for Biomedical Innovations at the American University of Sharjah, will join ICBME 2026 as a keynote speaker.
Professor Warkiani is a distinguished researcher in microfluidic systems, cell biology, organ-on-a-chip models, and advanced assisted reproductive technologies. His research focuses on rare cell analysis, non-invasive diagnostic tools, and the development of biomimetic technologies for sperm selection. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and, prior to joining AUS, served as a Professor of Biotechnology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia. He has mentored over 100 PhD and undergraduate students and has co-founded several startups, including NeoGenix Biosciences and SMART MCs, to drive the commercialization of his innovations. The title of his keynote speech is “Microfluidic Systems for Cell Biology and Translation into Practice.” In this lecture, Professor Warkiani will discuss the transformative role of microfluidic technologies in advancing biomedical discoveries and their clinical translation, particularly in cancer liquid biopsy and assisted reproductive technologies. He will also explore the development of AI-powered tools, such as SpermSearchAI, and their role in real-time identification and tracking of viable sperm from challenging surgical samples.
Researchers, healthcare professionals, engineers, and students interested in biomedical engineering, microfluidics, and intelligent clinical technologies are cordially invited to attend this valuable lecture at ICBME 2026.
